Mathematics plays a key role in everyday life, in the world of work and daily life. It enables us to interpret, analyse and solve problems as well as assess risk and make informed decisions. There isn’t a day that will go by that you don’t use maths!

A knowledge of maths also helps us access lots of other STEM subjects in school and beyond.

Broad General Education: S1 – 3

In S1-3 pupils will work through second, third and fourth level experiences and outcomes depending on their level of ability. Numeracy is a key focus in S1.

We continue to develop and consolidate numeracy throughout the BGE as well as develop knowledge of shape, measure, information handling and algebra.

All pupils in S1/2 will have SUMDOG accounts to support their learning. It provides engaging & interactive games to practice and improve their numeracy.

Senior Phase: S4 – 6

In the senior phase pupils will continue to work at their own level with the
following courses available:

Applications of Mathematics – National 3, 4 and 5
(previously known as Lifeskills Mathematics)

Mathematics – National 4, 5, Higher and Advanced Higher
