Last week, the school launched a new campaign in an effort to keep its pupils safe when in cars. All parents of S5 and S6 pupils have been sent a copy of a booklet that includes a contract which parents are being encouraged to agree with their sons and daughters to reduce the risk of them having road accidents.
The school, supported by the Parent Council, feels that this is an important issue because road crashes are the leading cause of death of 15-24 year olds and one in five teenage drivers has a crash in their first year of driving. The risk of death in a car crash is three times greater on a rural road.
